Delay in action script?

i designed flash file…i want a command that for more second stop perevius commands in action script…it like as delay in other programs…plz help me…:?)…example: i desighned a flash star…i put the visible of this star equal ziro(visible=0).and then visible=100…to seenig this effect flashing…but the speed of this work is vwery hight …i want command that bult delay for more seconds for normal flashing…i use setinterval but its not usefull here & speed is hight too.
