Hey all,
I’ve been in the works thinking of a way to create some sort of design related site focusing on matters that matter to design, dsicussing trends, ethics, our role in the media as designers, etc.
Now I just came accross something very cool. An e-zine modeled after an actual physical magazine. You can view it here.
I’d like to create something similar. A monthly periodical with articles, reviews, and whatever else seems appropriate at the time. This would be a classy kind of thing. Not snobby, by any means, but professional.
I think flash is probably the way to go with this. So what would be necessary is one or two Flash coders/designers. Take a look at the above link I mentioned and if you would feel comfortable creating something like this then please be in contact with me. I’d also be looking for recurring article writers, designers for spreads and layout. I would do articles and designs as well, but this can’t be a one person show.
Basically anyone interested please either PM me or send me an e-mail to ratherlargefire@gmail.com. I would much prefer people in the industry or going to school for design to be involved in this, articles will have to be written at a reasonably intelligent level, and designs will have to be interesting and sometimes intricate and time consuming. As far as the person or people working on the flash, you don’t have to be insanely talented but a decent amount of skill and a desire to improve are a must.
I’d like to make it very clear that for the first while (and potentially forever) there would be no money involved. I assume once we got a little bit of a reputation we could start doing ads and then everyone would be paid accordingly. However, right now it’d just be for people interested in doing something they feel strongly about. Everyone would be properly credited for all work done.
All hosting fees, domain fees, etc. etc. will be paid straight from my pocket, so don’t think this is me trying to take advantage of anyone.
I’d be more than happy to answer any questions, comments, concerns, or address ideas for refining this currently unrefined model.
Do hope there’s a few of you that might be interested
