Desperate: how can I write to an external file from Flash MX 2004 (for standalone)?

[font=verdana,arial,helvetica][size=1] [/size][/font]I desperately need to figure out a way of doing this.

I need to be able to write external files from a standalone Flash (MX 2004) application.
[font=verdana, arial, helvetica][size=2]
I can’t seem to find ANY instructions ANYWHERE on how to do this?
