Hi,
I’ve got the mouse pointer as a torch, and I want it to be turned on and off when the user clicks the mouse, but I can’t figure out how to detect the mouse click when the user isn’t clicking on a movieclip or button.

Thats exactly what I want to do! so you put the on(release) script inside the movieclip on a button!
