Does it ever seem like event listeners are not triggering

I have a xml loading and event listeners to trigger things when its loaded… ive done this many times but sometimes it seems like in IE on windows the events dont get triggered. its only happening in ie that i noticed… anyone have any advice on listeners to make sure they always trigger… or is it just my code lol
