Dragging xml content from a dir outside of the flash dir?

hi all!

i’m wondering if i can have flash 8 call files outside of its own directory?

e.g. a flash movie that gets data from xml files stored in a directory on the http server - a level up from the swf

root
\data\data.xml
\flash\flashMovie.swf
