I could have sworn that I saw a tutorial for a dynamic drop down menu, which was not sen’s xml one…
maybe I am halucinating…
anyway, I did search, but if you can find it before I do, you can laugh at me, in public…
what I am looking to do, is have a horizontal nav bar across the top of the stage, then have a couple of drop downs from there, and then have it all be able to be changed via an external text file.
If I have to, I will see if I can modify sen’s tut to make it work, but I am in a bit of a pinch for time, and learning a bit of xml right now may be too time consuming…
lostinbeta… sorry to intrude in this discussion ;)… but I am actually looking for the same thing… i have a section of my site for clients in which they check their design proofs and whatnot… it uses a drop down menu (flash MX) but its a pain when updating because I have to do it all in flash… im trying to do it with an external file… xml would be fine… that way i could just type in the filename, etc… and presto!
There are several xml drop downs out there - I recommend taking a look at either hga77’s (in the Best of Kirupa section) or Sen’s (search “xml menu” on Kirupa.com).
