From one problem into the next… that’s programming :hangover:
When I had finally fixed my font sizes in the dynamic text, i tested it and evrything worked just fine.
Then I went back to the Index Animation (see kiripa’s tutorial here) and tested it in there, the dynamic text was gone, yet the image that was in the swf still worked. Can anyone help a newbie?
I have done everything correct, no rotations and it is embedded.
The dynamic text already worked in one of the files as I said in my previous post, the problem is that when I open the swf with that dynamic text in another swf (loadMovie etc.) the dynamic tekst is gone…
I’ve replaced it with some static tekst, and that doesn’t dissapear in the main swf
Plz help me…
Like Scotty said I’m sure it’s a path problem. I tried clicking on the files you had listed and the swfs open but the fla’s do not prompt a download. If you can make those available I can look at them and try to help you.
this will eliminate the need to re-code your paths to fit in you main swf… and make sure your font has indeed been embedded, simple things slip our minds more than the complicated ones…hope this helps
^ This is wrong and will not help anyone not using MX 04’ very sorry…
@lunatic, yes it’s mx 2004, it does the same (more or less I think)as this:
The Flash MX way: use _global variables
You create a variable to reference the main timeline instead of using _root. This allows for easy modification of a single parameter if the timeline structure changes. All you have to do is add this line of code to the main timeline of the loaded movie:
_global.myAppMain = this;
When you’ve done that, you can refer to the _root of the loaded movie from anywhere in that movie with myAppMain, even when you load that movie into target. For instance, to set the variable count located in the _root of the loaded movie, you’ll simply have to do:
scotty rides up on code horse called pom wearing shining armor, rescues captive princess lunatic from tower of confusion, then rides off into the sunset of flash actionscript, leaving princess lunatic wondering how the hell she’s going to get there herself someday, but at least she is out of the evil tower
srry guys for the 404, my host had some troubles…
I’ll try the code out soon, but I haven’t got much time tonight.
Ow yeah, I’ve also uploaded a part of my site (with static text), check it out here (just the home and RoW guild buttons do something)
EDIT: fixed the links
ANOTHER EDIT: this is really weird… it works now! I haven’t changed any of the coding at all, I just went on with some other stuff on the site, and prolly one of those “other stuff” fixed the problem. I tried to recreate the bug, but it just won’t do. Maybe pathing problem after all (i hate capitals)
