Dynamic vertical thumbnail scroller with on (release)

Hello All,

I’m very new to Flash 8 and can get my head around the simple basics. I’m using a flipbook component which is very nifty but want to add certain functionality to it. What I really want is a STEP-BY-STEP tutorial to create one of 2 things:

  1. A customisable vertical thumbnail scroller ‘menu’ showing thumbnails loaded via xml where if a user clicks on the thumbnail, they’re taken to a specific page in the flipbook, or
  2. A way of using the scrollpane component that’s loaded with thumbnails via xml. I guess can customise the look by skinning the component.

I’d prefer the second option to be honest as I’m not very good at the drawing side of graphics. I’ve searched all over (maybe not hard enough!) but all I can find are tutorials that show how to simply link to a URL and not carry out an ‘on (release)’ event.

Also, the XML Flash search tutorial is the best I’ve found but I’m still finding it hard to implement. I’d appreciate anyone who can give simple, step-by-step instructions on how to do these things.
