Expanding work area

hello, I have a long MC that I am using as a slide menu. As a result it extends off the document and then after a bit it extends off the work area ( grey area around document) As a result it is not loading the images properly in my MC. Is there a way to extend or make the work area bigger , there has to be but i can find it anywhere ? Thanks
