Eyedropper tool frustrations

I’m starting to get really peeved with how the eyedropper tool has been evolving in Flash CS5.

The eyedropper originally behaved more like Photoshop’s eyedropper tool in that you could select colors outside of the program. You’d simply click the mouse button on the artboard, drag outside of Flash to a web browser window, and pick up a color from anything in the web browser.

I can’t seem to figure out how to do this anymore when it comes to manipulating gradients in CS5. I double click one of the color boxes on the gradient line, the cursor becomes an eyedropper, but as soon as I click it immediately selects that color. Even more frustrating is I can no longer pick colors outside of the Flash window.

Does anyone know how to get around this super annoying problem? My workflow is becoming more and more encumbered thanks to Adobe breaking how the eyedropper tool behaves! >:[
