Falsh in Powerpoint files

:beam: I’m hoping there is someone out there that can explain to a Powerpoint user how to incorporate Flash files into my Presentations. I have never used Flash before and I would like to beef up the presentations.

unfortunately it´s truth.

=)

…you can do much better presentations. Use the tutorials here to learn the basics, and then try to do your presentation in flash. If you get in to some problem post it here and we all help you the best way we can.

Once you get to now flash better you can save your presentations in a .exe file, and once you go flash you never go back, you go previusframe :stuck_out_tongue:
(inside joke, but not funny at all)

=)

WELCOME to Kirupa forum!

=)

LOL, trying to up your post count guig0???

But yeah, I agree with what you said

::hehe… previousFrame…LOL!::

Welcome to the board Maureen :beam:

if it’s just for the animations you could export your file as a gif and load that into powerpoint.

Hey Sorcerer,

I have asked other people this and no one seems to know. When I export my animations as animated .gif images from Flash, they seem to have distorted colors and/or pixelation. I have adjusted all the settings in every combination, but get the same thing. Any ideas why?

Hey lost sometimes the coffe kicks in real hard, and I become the post-O-matic. :stuck_out_tongue:

About the exporting movies as animated gif:

try compressing the images correctly: goto Library, right click the image, select properties and choose the correct image compression.

Place a background fill (don´t use the backgroundcolor).

In the Export Gig window maximize the colors select interlace and smooth.

That had minimized the Export Gif problems for me.

=)

Thank you everyone for responding but I know there are people out there that have imported flash files into Powerpoint. (There is an option in PowerPoint software that inserts this file.)

I will take your advice and get a tutorial and figure it out. I was just hoping there was someone out there that had experience doing this.

Thank you everyone for responding and I’ll keep everyone posted on how I do in case anyone else out there needs this information!

maureen:smirk:

If I remember correctly gifs only display in 256 colors, if you have a color that isn’t included it will be recolored to the closest match. This is one reason a lot of people use PNG’s for transparencies instead of GIF images.

You´re absolutely correct! Sorry for misleading you. :frowning:
Glad you insisted on your beliefs, cause it got me to do a search and discover this link for you.
Insert SWF into Power Point

=)

So I’m assuming once I learn Flash and develop a free standing Flash file, I can then import it into PowerPoint?

I’m familiar with Director… used it years ago. I think it’s up to 8.5 and I learned it when is was version 4.0. I know I was able to embed audio into Director. Can I embed audio into Flash?

Yes! flash can be iserted into poewer poin and Flash has a great sound compactibility!

If you now director flash will be much more easy for you!

=)

Thanks guys, next time I try this I will use your method guig0

I’m sure I will be asking for assistance in the future but I do appreciate you helping me so far!

Maureen:)

That´s why I´m here for.

Different question:

I’m inserting a .wav audio file into Powerpoint and it’s only 30 seconds long. I want to manipulate the file to replay the music a second time to increase the length it plays. (I can’t seem to get it to loop for me in PowerPoint).

Because this is work related and my company won’t give me money to purchase software - Do you know of Audio Software that I can do this manipulation in and save it as a wav doc? Free software that is…

Maureen

to save as wav: winamp

to manipulate: :q: (try tucows.com)

=)

Maureen,

Here’s how you embed Flash in PowerPoint:

Create and save your movie in Flash as a .swf file. Take note of the path where you saved it.
In PowerPoint 97 or 2000, create a new slide.
From the VIEW menu, scroll down to TOOLBARS and choose VISUAL BASIC.
From the Visual Basic Toolbar, click on the CONTROL TOOLBOX icon.
From the CONTROL TOOLBOX, select MORE CONTROLS icon.
From the scrolldown list, choose SHOCKWAVE FLASH OBJECT.
Your cursor will change to a cross hair cursor. Draw out a rectangle on your slide (size can be re-adjusted later).
Right click on the rectangle you just drew and choose PROPERTIES.
Under the Alphabetic tab, make the following changes:
EMBED MOVIE - Change to TRUE
LOOP - Change to FALSE (leave TRUE if you want movie to loop).
MOVIE - type in the absolute path of your file (c:\your_hard_drive/your_directory\movie_ name.swf)
Run slide show to see movie run. Make any size adjustments as necessary.

Hopes this helps.

Thank you so much for writing down these instructions. I will try them during the week.

I hope you won’t mind if I ask you some more questions later on?
