I have to rant for a second about the FCC!
Recently the Courier Post reported that the FCC fined a radio station $220,000 for broadcasting a naked twister game…
…let that sink in, $220,000 for TALKING about a naked twister game. This is getting out of control.
Now I’m not normally an activist by any means but this is really getting to be a problem. How can you fine a radio station for talking about naked twister? If it were TV I could understand it but it’s not. So I went to the FCC website www.fcc.gov and wanted to submit a formal complaint. Then I stumbled on Michael Powell’s email address. He is the Chairman of the FCC. So I sat down and wrote him an email with a few references to some frivolous fines that the FCC has filed in the last year alone totaling upwards of 3 Million dollars and that was just doing a quick Google search. I have been involved in Broadcasting and Journalism for a few years now and I think the FCC is seriously infringing on our right to free speech.
I know most of you may not care about this but with out some kind of cap on what the FCC can do they will soon control a lot more than I am willing to give up personally. The FCC fined the CBS $550,000 for the Janet Jackson event and they had no idea it was going to happen. And only a handful of people complained.
If you would like to form a complaint with Michael Powell email him yourself - Michael.Powell@fcc.gov

Again I’m not a hippy activist but I do think this is ridiculous!
