I am using the following code to display a flash video on a site. It works just fine in Firefox, but IE gives me a blank black box that says “Movie not loaded…” when right clicked.
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" width="240" height="214" align="middle">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="movie" value="media/web_player.swf" />
<param name="FlashVars" value="flvURL=media/video_promo.flv&ControlPanelColor=0x006cdb&buttonColor=0x000000&ControlPanelPosition=0&showControlPanel=1&ShowtimeColor=0xffffff&bAutoPlay=0&bAutoRepeat=0&BufferTime=5&tmeColor=0xffffff&loaColor=0x666666&GroundColor=0x000000&conNum=0&bShowtime=1&startvolume=100" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" />
<param name="scale" value="noscale" />
<param name="salign" value="lt" />
<param name="src" value="media/video_promo.flv" />
<embed src="web_player.swf" width="240" height="214" align="middle" quality="high" bgcolor="#000000" scale="noscale" salign="lt" FlashVars="flvURL=media/video_promo.flv&ControlPanelColor=0x006cdb&buttonColor=0x000000&ControlPanelPosition=0&showControlPanel=1&ShowtimeColor=0xffffff&bAutoPlay=0&bAutoRepeat=0&BufferTime=5&tmeColor=0xffffff&loaColor=0x666666&GroundColor=0x000000&conNum=0&bShowtime=1&startvolume=100" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
</object>
I’ve done some searching, and was advised to use swfobject to display videos with IE. However, I can’t find a GOOD how-to/guide for implementing swfobject, as none I’ve found even demonstrate how to specify a flv. What is the simplest way to implement a flv that will actually play in IE?
