This is something I’ve been meaning to do for a while, and with the release of Adobe CS, now seemed like a better time than ever. So I present to you Layer Comps for Fireworks!
What this does is allows you to save layer visiblility and accessibility (whether or not a layer is locked) of the layers in your current document as buttons within this panel. If you ever change the visibile or locked aspects of your layers, you can revert to a saved setting using a button with a previously saved setting.
Now this is in very early stages of development, but its at a point to where it functions enough to get the job done for me for the time being so it probably wont be touched again in a few weeks … so I thought I’d throw it out there for anyone who wanted it.
- You can add upto 11 comps. More comps can be added, but after 11 you cant see them :trout:
- each comp can be deleted by dragging it into the bin with the red x in the corner.
- select (and drag) a comp using its icon on the left.
- rename a comp by clicking on its name and typing.
- comps save layer visible and locked aspects of current layers in your document (nothing else - as in not elements within those layers).
- comps reference layers on a name basis, so if you rename a layer, your comp wont work for that layer anymore.
- comps are not document specific. Change the current document, the comps will remain and will still work if the new document has layers named similarly to those saved in the comp
- comps will not save with the file. Close the comp window and you lose your comps. Close Fireworks and lose you comps.
No mxp at this point, just a swf. Shove it in your
Macromedia\Fireworks MX (or MX 2004)\Configuration\Command Panels
folder and restart Fireworks.
If/when I ever get to updates, Ill post them here
