[size=2]Hello everyone… this is my first post on here and after 45 minutes of looking i’m sorry if i’m posting a duplicate question.
i have used flash for about 6 months now and have got on well with it to build some sites using basic script, but me and a few friends have decided to make a game… a very basic first person shooter. all good in theory untill things start going wrong. Well it didn’t take long for that to happen.
I have created a MC called “enemy1” and in the clip have created keyframes for all of the diferent states (one arm missing, attacking, headshot dead etc) and assigned buttons for each limb and gave the buttons on(press){gotoAndPlay(); etc… and it works pretty well … the problem comes when i try and move this MC from one library to another and it just wont move… file size too big…? i know its not my comp as i’m running a 2.8mhz and over 512 ram…
so my question is… am i doing something drastically wrong? i may be going about this whole thing the entirely the wrong way.?
Any … and i mean ANY advise, help, links or anything that could help me with this game would be greatly appriciated i’m also looking to get more than one wepon working and to have the gun at the botton of the screen and move with the mouse.
the programme freezes up completely. when i open up the task bar flash is using over 300.000k of memory and eventually says (not responding) but it has never done this before and still works fine with everything else i use it for… i have since reduced the quality of the bitmaps but its still freezes… is there a certain amount of files that flash can deal with …? if so is there a better way to put a game like this together…?
i do have a lot of script… i’m sure there is any easier way to do it but i have about 40+ keyframes all with the on(press){gotoAndPlay to the relevent keyframe. would that make it freeze…? the fact that there is sooo much AS should i be finding the most streamlined AS way of telling the MC’s what to do…?
I have looked through all the AS and there doesn’t seem to be any abnormalaties… i mean everything works in the way it shoud with no errors … is there a way i can send anyone the 2 .swf files to take a look at… if anyone has time…?
