Blender,
To change an image:
Find the image you want to change. It will most likely be a Movie Clip or Graphic. You can tell by the blue outline. Double clicking on it will bring you “inside” that MC or graphic. If you CLICK ONCE on the picture you want to change you will see either a blue outline again or a bold grey outline.
If you see a blue outline you need to double click again to go “inside” it once more until you reach the grey bold outline. **This is assuming it is a bitmap image and not drawn in flash.
Once your reach the grey bold out line that is the actual picture file. Delete it. (click on it > hit delete)
Now go to FILE>IMPORT>IMPORT TO STAGE and select the picture you want from your hardrive.
This will place it in on the “stage” and it might need some centering (the crosshair in the middle of the stage)
Then hit CTRL+ENTER to test your movie and see how it looks.
Once you like it, you will have to take the generated .swf file (it gets created inside the same folder as the .fla file) and move it into the same folder as the index.html
This is also assuming the index.html is coded to pull it from there.
If you test locally it should show your changes. if your testing on your server then you will most like ly need to refresh to get it to appear.
Hope this helps
Thanks a lot for the detailed instructions Nick. I am going to try this right now. I really appreciate the help!
I have been using Flash for over a year and programming for nearly three and I know that when I look at someone elses flash source, it is often still confusing. Probably the best way overall to learn about this stuff is to just use Flash some and get more proficient. Once you have done this, you’ll atleast be able to blunder your way through things (I do this alot :D). Also, don’t underestimate the power of the built-in help. After I initially learned the basics of AS2, almost everything else I learned was through trial and error and the integrated help.
small_guy: I didn’t mean to imply that Flash was not an extremely important technology, I just didn’t want someone thinking that they’d learn Flash need nothing else to get into web design
~Cody.
And your points were well taken. Good advice. I had narrowed my reply down to Flash because, well, this is a Flash related board. In truth though, yours was the more complete answer to the question that had been posted.
