Flash MX 2004 series are supposed to be able to open MX series files. People have reported that MX 2004 couldn’t open MX files, appeared to be a bug. So I guess wait until the patch comes out (somwhere this month).
thanks man,
So i’ll wait for the patch then…

Crash opening MX files - topic update: 10/20/03
Issue
Some customers report that Macromedia Flash MX 2004 crashes when they open files created in Macromedia Flash MX. This seems to be system-specific so far.
Solution
One known cause of this issue is the use of a cracked version of Macromedia Flash MX 2004.
To test the files against a legitimate installation, completely uninstall all previous Flash MX 2004 versions, then install the 30-day trial of Flash and test the same files.
If you are experiencing this with the legitimate version or the trial version of Flash MX 2004, follow the steps in the general troubleshooting documents to eliminate possible system issues:
General Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP Troubleshooting (TechNote 14776)
General Macintosh troubleshooting (TechNote 3500)
If the crash continues to occur, please contact Technical Support.
Macromedia Technical Support is searching for patterns in this behavior. Very few customers have contacted support directly for assistance with this issue since it first emerged. This may indicate that the problem is system-specific, or limited to the cracked version. If you have problems with a legitimate installation, please contact support directly.
