Hey, I’m trying to make a simple dynamic text field with a scroll bar. I’ve done this a lot of times and I know all you do is make a text field, dynamic or imput, and then drag and drop a scrollbar from the components menu. For some reason, and this isn’t the first time this is happened, but I try to do this, 100 times over and it won’t work! Then I go to file, new, and try it right there and it will work. But for some reasons in some of my movies they won’t work and its really pissing me off because I can’t start over I already have too much work into this movie. Any suggestions on whats going on?
Probably a bug. I’ve had that happen to me too on occasion. In my experience, flash is very picky about the order you do things in. Try deleting the textfield from the stage and re-adding it.

i’ve done everything, i’ve deleted the text field and tried to do that process. I’ve done in on the root stage in movies clips everything, it doesn’t seem to work and its really pissing me off because I can’t redo everything. I dont know what to do
could you do it in a new swf (where you said it will work), then load it into your main swf at runtime?
well i could do that but the point of this file was just for that. I’m already loading this .swf through another one so I dont want to have to go 3 deep into the loading. I guess I can just start over…
Try starting with a new file.
Put your text in then copy frames from your old file into the new on.
Do it layer by layer and test it after each one.
Should work
yeah, i just decided to do that, it seemed like the best solution, I just wished I knew what caused flash to do that so I could avoid that. It’s a pain in the *** to copy everything and rename all your ****…but oh well…thanks guys
