Snowboard.com and it’s sister sites are looking to improve their community by the addition of some excellent flash applications and integration.
A little background first. Snowboard.com is based in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. Snowboard.com is the largest wintersports website in the world, and has over 550,000 members. It is a large community website, connecting snowboarders from all over the world. [URL=http://www.Freeskiing.com]Freeskiing.com , [URL=http://www.SkateboardVillage.com]SkateboardVillage.com and [URL=http://www.Sledclub.com]SledClub.comare also run from the same office. More action sports communities will also be lauched in the next 8 months. These websites run ASP code on Microsoft SQL Server and a combination of Windows 2000 and 2003 Enterprise Server.
Our main project over the next 8 months is to create an Isometric chat world that integrates into our existing member databases and community. This is the main focus of this new position.
I have been creating simple Flash Communication Server applications for our websites. Our existing web-based Instant Messenging service is being upgraded to have webcam, and microphone support. A basic Shout box on the homepage, and a basic Chatroom have also been created. I am still new to Flash, so I need some help and guideance with it. This is another main area of the position, updating and optimizing these applications.
Other duties would include maintenance and developing new areas to the websites, shipping and receiving of orders from our online store, some administrative tasks, and lots more. Our office currently only had 3 full time workers (myself, Adam the database and backend programmer, and Rick the boss), so it’s always busy here. You must be able to multi-task well, and be able to meet deadlines. Most of all we want a dedicated, fun, and gifted addition to the team.
SKILLS WANTED: Experience with Flash Communication Server an asset.
Extensive Flash programming skills required.
ASP/SQL Server knowledge an asset.
This position is currently for 8 months. If it works out well, it could be extended to a full time position. The selected candidate would have to move to Whistler (one of the best places to mountain bike, ski, or snowboard in the world) for the duration of the contract. Salary will be based on experience and skillset.
