Flash files (write and load)

hi, does anyone know how to load and write data/values from Flash MX onto a textfile? Sharif suggested using php, but i dont know how to work it out. If anyone know how, please reply right away. And if possible, please leave a tutorial on your reply, thank you

just one question, does php require a server or somewhat? what is php, is it something like java or visual basic?
