Flash interface for local harddrive

first off is this possible?personally, I believe it is if I can some how set up my computer to be a server. Basically what I want to do is have a flash document on my website access/create text files on my hard drive.I know I need something along the lines of XML or PHP can anybody tell me what the best things are to start with?thanks!
