Flash layers -> Flat image - Advice Needed Please

Hi, Im a 2nd year multimedia student, and for my ‘student centred project’ i will be producing an interactive jewellery customising website. Where the user can create a personal piece by dragging and dropping beads (etc) where they want and choosing their colours, because wire jewellery is easy to customise and people always request colours etc!

So… after the user has created their finished piece i need this to become a flat ‘image’ that can me sent to me for a quote.

I have seen this working (in a different way) on http://magic.blocmedia.net/ . Where the poster turns into an image, as if ‘print screen’ ing it. How is this done? Id much appreciate any pointers and scripting ideas as i am a ‘beginner’ actionscripting - fast learner though.

I have attached a basic (just to test the idea) working model of the drag/drop part so you can see and also a finished ‘real photo’ to see what it turns out like. Its due in in over a month - so any tips, scripting would be very helpful.

Thanks alot, Clare

http://www.gotoandlearn.com/ -> BitmapData Class - Part 1

… might give you a good idea of where to start.

BTW welcome to the forums :wink:

Hi , thanks for the link, very nice site. ive done that tutorial now and get the beginnings of the ‘BitmapData Class’ - however im not sure if this would work with my project as that tutorial was 'draw’ing from the flv video whereas i have lots of movie clips (the beads etc).

I searched about how to further it to saving the screenshot but i found: http://www.quasimondo.com/archives/000572.php and it doesnt show how to do it, and what people posted is way over my head because its about compression.

Should i post this in the actionscripting forum? Thanks
