one of the most common problems with this is making sure your server is set up right, i had a huge problem with this until someone deirected me to the php.ini file. for example make sure your global variables are set to On. or at least that was my problem
I prefer to keep global variables off and just use $_POST or $_GET to catch the variables when its needed…
