Flash player detection

Hello guys,

I’m confused with the difference between Flash player and Flash plug-in.

Do viewers who can’t see my Flash web need to download Flash Player or Plug-in? Because I can’t find any free download for Flash Plug-in. Is it already included in Flash Player 6 ?

In the Flash movies, where should I add the “flash player detection” script exactly ? 1st frame of the movie perhaps? Will this effect the preloader I placed in the 1st frame? Do I need to add this script in all movies/pages ? Or only in the first page (index)?

Thanks,

m4non

The Flash Standalone player comes installed with Flash. It allows you to view .swf files directly by opening them on your computer.

The Flash Plug-in allows viewers who don’t have the Flash program installed on their computers to view the .swf through a browser.

You can get it here (it says player because it basically is a player, but its a plugin for your browser)…

As far as the detection goes, I believe that this is added to to HTML page that the Flash movie is embedded in. Otherwise how could it run if you didn’t have the appropriate version? There is an option on the Publish settings for the HTML page where you can tell it to code a detection. :block:
