Hello everyone!
I hope this is the right area to post this particular thread. If not, I do apologize in advance…feel free to let me know where an issue of this nature should be posted in the future.
Basicall my problem is this:
- Having trouble displaying some Flash sites on my Dell laptop running Windows XP Pro, so I figured I needed to simply update my Flash Player (which was still on version 7 on this particular machine)
- Thought I had Flash Player installed but it’s not listed if I check under Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. On other computers it’s definitely listed there, but not on my laptop
- I then downloaded the installation file to my desktop, double-clicked and received an error message (see attached bmp) stating that setup could not locate the browser’s plugin directory and to either click Browse to locate it or Install to proceed. I tried BOTH and neither worked
- I did verify that the directory exists as C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash which is where it gets installed on my other computer as well.
- Shockwave player IS installed and when I tested uninstalling it and reinstalling it, I didn’t have problems with Shockwave Player. (in case anyone might be wondering)
SO, no matter how many various ways I attempt to install the player, it just will not happen on this particular computer. It’s fine on any other computer I’ve checked and have been able to successful update my Flash players on another PC and a Mac…IT’S JUST THIS LAPTOP, and i’ve never seen this problem before.
ANY SUGGESTIONS??? Is there any particular known bugs on this that anyone knows about?
