Flash Video - FLV Files

I am finding great success with Flash FLV files that run on fast processor speeds.

However when accessing the same material on computers ranging from 350 mhz down to 233 mhz Penium II machines, performance is absolutely shameful. How processor-dependent are FLV files in comparison to say a Windows Media file.

Is this a known problem and are there solutions?

I went with the Professional version of MX 2004 specifically for the video functionality. Then I realized the FLV exporter doesn’t work with Premiere 6.x on Windows. So I bought Cleaner. Now that it seems as if FLV’s don’t perform well computers sub 800 mhz it seems my outlay of money on the products to make FLV’s work was an extremely terrible decision.

I must say the FLV’s are quite amazing on my 2.8 ghz computer. Well done Macromedia. But what about everyone else? Am I the only one who gets to watch my movies?

Thanks for any help. I’ve been trying for months to resolve this and decided it was finally time to ask for help.

Your CPU will be affected by datarate encoded into FLV. Lower datarate , smaller CPU usage. But then you will probably loose some quality too.

Try to test few FLV with lower datarate, with VBR option and see what you can change to make it work for you.

Good luck
