Flex Forum

Please Kirupa… if you build it they will come! …please!

as a newb to it all, I’ve recently migrated from Flash AS3 to Flex3 and I must admit I’m finding it difficult to understand the benefits of Flex. Namely, code completion is great in Flex… but understanding the ‘shortcuts’ to using MX controls vs AS3… eg. compiled swf performance benefits of the way sizing works (as an example) between Flex’s x-pixels from left/right/bottom/top to AS3’s percentage of screenbounds was an enlightening experience. Not to mention the many lines of less code!!

A dedicated Flex forum sounds like a great idea to me too and where else but Kirupa!

P.S. Flash is not dead or dying - but it’s use seems to be changing from a coding environment (which it does badly) to an asset creation tool for compilation in Flex projects - IMO.

cheers

A dedicated Flex forum is not needed. Just post in the AS3 forum. If you really want put [FLEX] in your subject.

And yet so many people disagree with you. I started this thread MONTHS ago and here we are again.
