Hey!
I was wondering if anyone knows a way to do this:
load text externally into text fields in flash but arranged in linked columns (like in Quark). I’d like to be able to just add text to the external file and the text to be rearranged automatically in the columns. For example, if you add a name in the middle, all the following text has to be moved down.
Never seen something like this…any clues?
thanks.
You mean, align the text like this?
yeah!
any help formatting large amounts of text is helpful…but I’d really like to have columns…like a news article…(it’s actually a list of names)
I think thats not possible with 1 single textfield. You could use 2 textfields and retrive the data from a txt file and distribute between them.
how do you “distribute” them? I have different text fields but I don’t know how to load the text in the first field and when it reaches the bottom, continue in the next textfield…
On this thread i gave a script to pull a variable from txt file, with lots of words separated by “,” add them to an Array and put each word on a listbox. Check if that helps.

not quite what I need to do…:d:
Has anyone seen “linked” columns of text before???
what’s a good way to load a big text that has to be changed often??? Since the text changes often I think and external text file is the best but…how do you format that text file in flash to be arranged in columns?? I assume you need different text fields…but is there a way to link one with the other so you load the text in the first field and the text is distributed through the other columns?. If any of you are familiar with Quark, you’ll be familiar with the linked text fields tool.
help please!!
Hmm i dunno whats quark.
