I think the main reason for the footer restriction was mainly to keep the large Flash/JPG footers to a reasonable size. I don’t think the small PixelPeople gifs are causing a problem. Also with Souls, if we ask him to take it out, then the total size of the footer would just increase so I don’t see it as a problem. I noticed it a while ago, but didn’t do anything for precisely that reason…

rev, i think it’s ok. his footer is only 9 kb. if it’s a little bigger than 300 px, then i don’t think it should really matter. if it’s like 350 on the other hand, then we intervene.
i know this bends the rules a bit, but this isn’t exactly the Third Reich.

but then again, I didn’t set the 300 rule in the first place, so it really doesn’t matter to me.

oh i’m sorry. I thought you were strictly talking about soul. as for mdipi…i’m really not sure. his footer area does look crowded, and messy if i should admit.

mdipis does break the rules. It is 300x60 + 2 lines of text, mdipi has 300x60, 2 lines of text, a pixel person on another line and a 3rd line of text containing a link to his blog.
