i was wondering about something. i know u can do 3d in flash, but is it possible to make a 3d flash game? i was thinking along the lines of unreal tournament 2004, or call of duty. those kinds of games. if someone could help me that would be a big help. iv got the animations for most of the guns done, and the motion the gun makes when its walking. what programs would i need ot make this, and what should i know in advance before doing this?
Maybe this might answer your question:
there is absolutly no way flash could handle somthing as complicted as unreal tournament or call of duty.
Firstly there is a program for 3D in flash and its called swift but im not sure if u can apply a bitmap to an object or not? (never used it)
flash is made for simple games like 2d platfomers (mario). Flash player is very slow. It cannot draw very complicatedt things quickly.
I’m sure you could make something nice using Swift3D, but nothing like Unreal or Call of Duty. Two completely different worlds.
you cna do aprimative doom kinda thing
In that doom game can u actually kill the badguys? i couldn’t and i shot them a few times! the best 3D game in flash that i’ve seen is called gunnybunny, i can’t post the swf cause its 3.3mb, but heres a link www.ebaumsworld.com/gunnybunny.html (i don’t think that made a link, its different in every forum!) it takes awhile to load.
BTW this would be pretty hard to make incase u didn’t know

I could probably make something pretty impressive… the only hard part is doing it with bitmapped overlays… Because tiling is extremely processor intensive… So you wouldhave to make a cell-type-shaded game…
I tried to make a simple thing where you walked around and fired a gun, but it had really weird problems, like sometimes the bullets wouldn’t dissapear and then they’d just freeze in their position on the screen, no matter where you looked, and also, the bullets came out the tip of the gun, but only until you rotated your view in any direction. I have no idea why the bullets wouldn’t dissapear, but I know that they didn’t come out of the right part of the gun because I was using the wrong math, but I don’t know what the right math is either.
Personally i don’t think its worth the effort for the effect that u’ll get at the end, but if u up for a challenge…i don’t know maybe that’s what gets u going
well you could try a area 51 type game thta would be pretty fun and it wouldn’t be too much differnt t ocode from hte shoot em up games you can make!
well, what if i were to not apply bitmaps to the 3d objects. would it be somewhat easier then? i realize that this is hard to do, but im up for a challenge.
Well i’m sorry to say this but i really think you should try something different like Director OR Adobe Atmosphere or learn to program (i recomend java) but if all of these are too weird or time consuming just find a fre 3d game ngine and make oyu own game i found a bunch of em but can’t remember where
