This one’s a little convoluted, so stay with me…
On Monday, I was running Flash 9 (purchased as a standalone, but IT lost my serial so it was still a trial), and making a projector using AS2.0. I have one exe that I was calling with fscommand in the subdir, and it was working a charm.
Tuesday, I got my nice fancy new Web Premium package (it’s okay, someone else in the office gets the other Flash). I uninstalled the other version as the new installation wasn’t recognising it, reinstalled everything and kept on with my work. It wasn’t until I completed the file today and did a final test that I discovered that my fscommand wasn’t working any more. I can’t for the life of me work out why.
I’ve also tried a batch file, but that got a weird error that I’ve found others on the net have had too (but with no solution). For a few pdfs and docs that I have linked, I’ve used getURL with a simple linking page, but that doesn’t work with the exe (although I’m considering a “save as” option).
Anybody else had this problem? It seems a bit weird. The only solution I can really think of is to open it on another computer with Flash 8, but that’s a lot of work when the bosses want a million tiny changes. Any thoughts?
