I was trying to improvise this guestbook fla.which I got it from flashkit.
and having bit of trouble here if you can help me.
I added the subject and URL section, originally which it didn’T have. but when I added and change the script around and test to see the movie, you can see when you press the CLEAR button it clears the title of subeject, name and e-mail and URL section, not just that, you can also see when you put the cursor to the text box and if you try delete the words, you see that title of the sections can be deleted as well!! I dunno how I can obstruct from doing this action. (You can see it what you mean on my website www.inversefunction.com

Also, you mentioned about I need to change the CHMODE to 766, I have no knowledge regards to php,
where can I change that mode to 766? how do I do it? I know this may be quite easy for you, but I wonder if you can redirect me where exactly i change that mode. also do I attach the guestbook.html as well?
I can send you the fla. I worked and let you see my website on guestbook section if you know what I mean. (www.inversefunction.com) sorry for a tedious question. although I wish you can answer to my question, since I’m having bit of hard time. :frowning:

You need to chmod your php file. Are you on a mac or pc?

wonder where that came from honestly. before you poke fun on me you should ask me without any misunderstanding. maybe I SHOULD give you the benefit of the doubt this time. anyway, ya the thread link doesn’T seem to work like you said, but I just copied and pasted the link so thought it would lead to that site. anyway I’m new here, and maybe my question may be darn obvious and silly to ask, but I would much appreciate some sensitivity and sincereness here cause I’m here to be supported.

PS: to answer FLashplaya question I’m on Mac. so I suppose I need to change the CHMODE on the web server then do I? I asked them and they told me they only do 755.

k you are using fetch right? goto the php file select it and right click it. Then go down to where it says Set Permissions. Then you can set it there and change them to 755

well I have recieved a mail from the person who has created the guestbook from flashkit http://www.flashkit.com/movies/Interfaces/Forms/Flash_MX-Mentaler-8439/index.php, and he has mentioned that it was only used for 766 :frowning: does usually the way the flash guestbook is set up is for certain type of CHMODE?
I did change the mode to 755 on the server. I don’T use Fetch I just upload them from the dreamweaver.

btw, in regards Digitalosophy’s thread, ok you have misunderstood from zyklone from my thread. I forgive you, so it has been proved that you were wrong. although if you are working in that area deleting someone else’s crap, pls be sure and know where its from before accusing. anyway good to know that now you know I have got nothing to do with it. Well I would get fetch :thumb: just a good program to have! Humm?? There has to be a way to set your permissions in Dreamweaver… Can you set them on your server? if so then change that file to 766…

if you use IE for ftp you can set permissions by right clicking on the file.

go to
ftp://yoursite.com

then go to file >> login as

I called the web server basically they didn’t allow me to change the mode into 766 for the security reasons. They told me it shouldn’t be a problem for me to use as in 755. what I’m stuck is not just the CHMODE here though. If you go to my website and see the guestbook www.inversefunction.com
when I improvised the guestbook fla. originally they didn’t have Subject and URL so when I added that I think the script has gone wrong. When you click the CLEAR button it clears off the titles of the guestbook, and if you try to type in some words and delete them it simply deletes the title as well. IS it any way for me to avoid this act? If anyone if willing to take a look at my fla. and php to see what is causing the problem? also I think I may have to change the php content inside as well. It would be much appreciated. again, thanks for your help
