Hey guys, I need some advice, tips, whatever. I have the opportunity to meet with, possibly interview with, an art director with a local company here. We know some of the same people and she heard that I have drawing/illustration skillz and wants to see some of my work. I’ve been putting together a portfolio of drawings and sketches, and whatever pixel art I have as well, but basically have no idea what I’m doing.
I’ve had people in the art/design/illustration biz tell me, based on what they’ve seen me do, that I can do this. The problem is, I’ve never worked as an artist of any kind. I went from operating printing presses to a desk job. I’d love this opportunity and have just enrolled at a local college for a degree in graphic design specializing in interactive media. The portfolio, as meager as it is, is pretty much ready. What’s killing me now is putting together a resume when I have next to no ‘experience’ as an artist. I have done some concept logo/mascot illustration and a full page illustration/ad that did get published in a local business magazine, but I’m trying to figure out how to tweak my resume around to reflect the art stuff, rather than the office monkey job that I currently have.
Any tips, ideas, comments, suggestions, etc will be appreciated.
You guys are the best!
Oh, and the name of the company in question will be withheld for the time being.
