The question is simple… but the answer…
How to import .eps in a online swf file ??? – never mind how complicated, server-side-scripting overloaded or whatever – I’m dying to find a solution…

you mean like, dynamicly import .eps files ?
Jep - for a graphic (papered) magazine… Could be quite revolutionary if possible
The basic concept is like this:
Creating a full-dynamic site with database, where the DTP department of some magazine can put their .eps-files into, wich get dynamicly loaded, and even, if possible parsed and manipulated…
no, only jpegs and swfs can be imported at runtime. Have them export their eps’s to swf.
Hmm, that’s actually the basic concept, not to have them to export their eps’s to swf ---- Sure it isn’t possible, even with intensive server-side procedures?
(PLEASE don’t say: it’s impossible indeed – that not really the right spirit, right?)
Maybe, anyone has an idea to how to convert .eps into .swf server-sided ?

find out if you can convert the .eps to a .swf with some server side technology then. They upload .eps, server converts it to .swf. I have NO clue if that is possible, but it seems like that’s what you should try to find out, because the .eps ain’t going into flash
It’s definitely possible to convert an eps to a jpeg on the server’s side and import that into flash, but it would be painfully slow. Its an interesting idea though, and I think I might make an attempt at it just for sh*ts and giggles.
You might try asking in the server-side forum at flashkit. Musicman, one of the moderators there, and one of the Ming developers, once wrote a basic EPS to SWF conversion using Ming.
Google has some basic info in it’s cached page, but the link itself doesn’t work for me now (searched “eps swf ming”).
Cheers for the tips -

If you’d manage to write a server-side parser to make it all happen, or help me out with some guidance, this could be a great open source project with a LOT of intrest of the publishing community…

I’ll certainly check it out!
