Help with side scroller

ok here’s the deal im making a sidescrolling platform game and as of now i have the character running in place so to speak and he also has a jump animation. alos the background moves when you hit left or right but i have no idea how to control the bg when you jump or land on platforms. if anyone could help that would be great thanks.
