i have a hit test problem

[color=black]i want to use the hittest where you specify the coordinate, not the bounding box (x, y, true) - when i use this code on the main timeline, it works fine, but when i put it in its own movie clip it works as the bounding box format. what am i doing wrong here? how do i get the one on the left to work like the one on the right?
