So I bought a scooter a few weeks ago because I was tired of driving my big gas guzzling truck to work on those days I’m too tired to bike to work or I’m already running late. It’s only a little 50cc scooter (a Kymco People 50) but I can get it up to 45 mph (I’m only 100 lbs which is actually an advantage on a little scooter).
But here’s the best part. I got about 100 miles on the first tank of gas and had to fill it up the other day. Know how much it cost to fill up the tank? A whopping $1.77. Yes, that’s one dollar and seventy-seven cents. Filling up my truck costs almost $40 and I got maybe 225 miles out of a full tank. I’ll let you do the math comparison on that.
What else? Oh, insurance on my truck (a 1995 Nissan XE King Cab) costs about $600 for 6 months. Insurance on the scooter is $180 for the year.
And lets just not skip over the fact that its fun to drive . . . :beam:
Anyone else out there scootering around? Or maybe a full on motorcycle? My guy doesn’t want me to ever get a big machine like that but I can see myself upgrading to at least a 150 cc scooter in a year or so.
