I just noticed my temp folder has 12,383 files in it and consumes 166mb of my disk space… So, how big is yours?
I clean it up like every week from now.
The first time I did disk cleanup - it gave me back a gigabyte :thumb:.
Mine is 169MB and it contains 14,955 files. I bet half of the 169MB came from looking at SOTW entries haha
Sharif: whoa, that’s extremely big… before you cleaned it, that is
lol @ kirupa
hasn’t you got school-stuff to do?
I’ve been out of school for 3 weeks now
last time I did a disk cleanup was like a year ago :ne:
We finished last week on friday
Mine’s only 20MB, but that’s because I’m crazy about disk space and clean it at least once a day.
Mine is cleaned every time I start up the web brower, so there’s probably about five files in there right now.
same here.
Well do I have a story to tell :!:
I cleaned my Temporary Internet Files out way back. Well that’s what I thought but Microsucks keept some secret log with IE (I had stop using IE a while earlier) that explorer could not see. But when I when to the addressbar and added /content.ie5/ to it, there was about 16 more folders in there. I only checked one of them and it had like ~1500000 files in it.
So I started deleting them all, I spent a sunday doing that. At the end I got 9gigabyte more space on my C. The worst is the this wasn’t my Temporary Internet Files but some stupid log!?!

So burn IE:bad: Long live FireFox

Yup, that’s the secret IE temp folder
But geeeeez - 9 gig? that’s harsh! Boooooourns M$
Firefox is bad in my book because it’s visibility property through javascript is broken
but I have 4,480 files
it seems that ad-aware deletes em all :-p or sumthing along those lines… I only found 5 files
oops i double-posted :-\
i haven’t emptied mine since I had to reboot my whole system, which was like 2 years ago. Their is something like 22,000 files.
5.3 gig…
i clean mine like once or twice a day. i’m sort of compulsive w/it. i limit it to 20 mb, but it never gets that high.
Master64, what is the path to that directory?
Is it:
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5
?
yup
that what i did.
Well that only works in XP and 2000 i think the MS os’s that don’t have DOS any more. The older one’s you have to do it throw DOS.
i limit the storage to 10mb. Although if you increase it, you would be able to store more of course but its a pain when you actually want to empty it.
