How can you make flash download media files?

How can someone make a flash movie link download a media file rather allowing them to open and play in a browser?
I have always used up until now the clumsy way of zipping the files so the browser prompts you to save the files on your disk but I’m looking for a more elegant way of doing it through flash code.

Any thougths?
