How do i make a game?

ok, i know this is pretty broad, but im wanting to make a side scroller game and i dont know the first thing about it… ive worked with flash for a long time so thats no problem, but im just now really getting into making games. ive found some tuts but they’re kinda confusing. any help would be great thanks
