How do they do this?

I love how the images use up the whole browser window - how do they:

  1. ‘pan’ (don’t know if this is right word) the images horizontally
  2. ‘push’ images (again don’t know if this is right word) vertically when you click on a new portfolio item.
  3. How is it that the navigation moves the same time the images move.

this site is very slick - i would like to learn how they did all this…
