How do you draw in flash?

I find it hard to draw in flash because it seems that the pencil tool never results in the line that I actually want, and the brush tool is hard to edit afterwards because it is not a single spline.

I know that there is settings for the pencil tool, but they don’t really seem to delvier the results that I want.

If anyone has any tips I would really appreciate them, or even if there is some settings for the pencil tool that you find the best please ley me know.

BTW most of the stuff that I work on is character drawing in case it matters.

I hear you, about the pencil tool in Flash… I too was not impressed with its performance. I prefer the method employed in the tutorial that Jubba recomended (it was created by Kitiara, who is our resident goddess of Flash Line Art).

that method does work pretty good. Even though at first glance it doesn’t look productive it works pretty good. Thanks for the quick reply.

ok one more newbie question (I have searched for this one with no success).

How do you join lines? Sometimes it happens, without me knowing why, but alot of the time I can not get it to work.

you may have snap to objects checked… its under the view menu…

im not sure what you mean by ‘joining lines’… are they just lines, or are they a stroke on a shape??

well after a lot of fooling around it seems that after snapping the ends together then clicking and dragging the point of connection in a direction kinda tangent to the point of connection seems to do the trick ~70% of the time, but I still have problems the other 30% of the time.

ya I meant lines, and I do have snap to object selected.

One thing that I left out before is that I drag the two joining points to a point where the circle lies over two points gets bigger. It will then sometimes join the lines

i dont know if you know this or not, but it might help: do you know about shift+clicking to select multiple objects?

ya I do, can that be used in some way?

im really not sure. It will help you move and select objects, but as far as joining them together, i am uncertain. Ive tried many times to figure it out, but have had no luck… sorry… :frowning:
