Alright, my fellow flashers.
I have some ideas, but was wondering if you guys have tackled this one.
Any suggestions?

FAQ/anchor?
Yeah… Sen. You know… The questions are on top and when you click on them, they go to another section withing the same document body. Flash does not support anchors in that way.
Any thoughts?
Like, I thought of maybe calling an a/s function and opening a new window with the answer… but I’m looking for other thoughts, just to see how many other options I have not considered.
so is this part HTML then? Just with Flash links?
nah… this is html inside of a dynamic text box.
well, if i wanted to simulate the anchor effect, this is what i would do… (did do once, but i did it with regular text, but i think it would work with dynamic text)
i would put the dynamic text into a big long text box, and then turn that into a MC. and then, for the links, i would just tell that MC to go to a certain x,y position. since i used static text, i just masked a little frame around the dynamic text, but since you cant use a mask with dynamic, i’m sure you could just simulate a mask with other things. if you do it this method, you could have it ease into the section, which would be a nice transition, or you could do the old standby ‘jump’ way. but i dunno, you are much better at this stuff then me, so i’m sure you could figure out something neato.
ah ok… so a Flash based FAQ with links directing to the seperate questions in the listing (right?)
hmm
I think an option would be having each question within its own string and not all initially in the text field initially - having only the links there at first. Then on clicking the link, changing the text of that field to the appropriate question with the options to go to the previous question, the next question or back to the list - hmm kinf of like how most web-based email is.
… either that or maybe finding out the scroll position of each and just jumping to that scroll. Each scroll can be found by adding the question text each in one by one and saving the maxscroll of the textfield for each. In doing that you get the position of the next section (plus the height of the textfield)
Hmm… Golgi and Senocular… both of those sound interesting. Originally, I wanted the client to put their own questions and answers. I think that Sen’s solution can be adapted to do that. I also like Golgi’s … I guess if I get a chance, I’ll try them both. Problem is, I wanted to finish this site today.
So much to do… so little time.
Im surprised Lost or Pom didnt chime in…
lost is having an AS-block, poor guy I feel for him.
hhahaha… an A/S brain freeze. Gotta love it.
