How to hollow out objects

Hey guys !

here’s a good one for you. I’ll try to be as explicit as can be. I am trying to figure out a way to hollow out objects in Swift3d. I have no problem doing it with simple shapes like a cylinder because it can be extruded from an EPS “circle” imported into Swift3d, resulting in a nice “pipe” type of object.

Now what I can’t do is this, I’m trying to build an object shaped like a cone but it has to be hollow. Think of it as those “dunkin donuts” coffee mugs with a base larger than the rim.

It’s very important that I understand this because I learned 3d modeling back in the time of Quake 2 where you could use another model as a “carving tool” therefore giving you the ultimate control on how your final shape looked like. ■■■■ if I could do that in Swift I’d be the king of the world.

I hope I won’t have to learn 3dStudioMax…I’m just too dumb I guess :frowning:

Thanks in advance

hey… im a pretty new swift user…somewhere in the objects properties you’ll find an option called “closed”, if you uncheck that it becomes hollow… well i’m at school right now, so i cant check where exactly its at or be more specific. hope i somehow helped tho:)

The lathe editor does that. Makes hollow objects. What it does, you draw anyl ine and then you give it a spin. You can choose your spin.

Hope it helps.
