How to make a Dissolve effect on an image like a Polaroid Picture

Hi everyone - my first post! Hope you can help.
I am trying to create an effect like seen on a developing Polaroid picture. So, my blank “Polariod” image would be imported from Photoshop into Flash. How then would I make the picture develop in Flash? A simple fade tween wouldn’t look like a Polaroid - any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Linda

First of all, welcome to the forums! I’m not really sure wwhat you mean…do you want some sort of mask? How about a mask that you could slide over the image with a gradient?

You have to shake, shake, sha sha sha shake, shake it, shake shake it, shake it like a polaroid picture…

Sorry, couldn’t help it.

Heeeeyyyyy YYYAAAAA!

Good idea Radioactve! I’ll try fooling around with the mask idea…what I meant was an effect like watching a polaroid image develop before your eyes - from plain black to clear image with a sort of dissolve/oil spill effect from blackness to image (sorry - not that clear - have never tried describing a polariod developing). Is that clearer though?

Thanks again.

Linda

Alright I kinda show what you mean, how about making the picture all solorized in Photoshop ( if you have it) so it looks all reversed and shizzle. So in the animation you can do this: black--------->white---------->50% alpha solorized-------->image

Comprendo? I might even use this effect

Cheers:thumb:

Yes, I do have Photoshop 7 - is solarized a filter?

Never mind Radioactive! I just realized that I can solarize beautifully in Photoshop! I think I will be able to figure out a polariod image based on your advice. I’ll give it a try, and if it works, I’ll post the results.

Thanks again for your input,

Linda

i’ll try to do one too

Well, it’s not perfect…but along the right track? Comments to make it better? Check it out at:

Thanks,

very nice! I still think it should go from black to white to solar to image. Then it will look a little different, but I think better. I also think it should go slower a little. Maybe experiment with the masking thing so it will look like it will develop more. Best of luck!

P.S. Put the polaloid on a slant so it will look not as “placed”

I’ll try that - thanks! I’m actually going to make a “batch” of photos and they’ll be spread out at different angles sort of “haphardly” to reflect the upcoming theatre season (this was just a test). But, yeah, I’m not completely happy yet with the “developing” so will go back to your comments.
Over and out for today!

If I may butt in  the dissolve effect looks a little choppy, you might want to raise your frames per second. Cool idea though!

Just do a motion tween, and on the first frame, in the Porperties Panel, play with something called Advanced Settings, or something like that.

You can also script it (I did it in my signature ‘Some pictures’ if you want to check it out).

sorry I’m not that good at flash, take these dudes advice!

I actually did this Polaroid thing last week. I sense some copyright infringement,my lawyer will be contacting you soon. Just playing, take a look at what I did. Just use “Tint” instead of alpha to make your file smaller.

Very nice, who are the gangstas?

use the advanced settings on the tween - you can do it with that. play around with setting them all on high then slowly coming into normal.
