How to make buttons scroll a certain menu with ease

i searched everywer even on this forum but could not find what i wanted. till now im my photo gallerys i would just have a movie clip which would be a white bordered box and then inside it there would be buttons (small thumbnails) and i would scroll this huge box by just puttin very much time taing scripts like on(release){gotoAndPlay(frame whatever)} and on that frame der would be a tween wer da menu wud go up or down. Is’nt there any way by which I can just put a peice of coding on the up and down butons to make the box go up and down with ease. and i would also like an explanation to the coding. thanks
