How to make search engine

Im a noob, but i want to find out how to make a search field, i know you can do it in flash but i wanted it html or waht ever. If you are familiar with dream weaver youll know that it will generate a default search engine for you, but it is really ugly and not to graphicly wise to use. Does anyone know how to make a custom html search engine with your own graphics? If not is there a tut here for falsh search engines?
