I have a couple of p4 1gb machines. I want to hook them up to screamernet for a make shift renderfarm. My question is how can I tell what is the max capacity of ram I can put in? I have 3 slots and planned on buying 512’s fr each slot but someone said I could mess things up by puttin to high of a capacity of ram in there. Is this true? ANy advice appreciated.
you might also want to get freeram xp, i use that, it displays how much free ram you have 
you can configure it to free you ram when ever you want, but be warned it does also slow you down a little too
OSX has things like that built in.
and your point was? I have a PC (p4)
My point was that you should switch to Apple branded things. :b
Also, third party programs like some of the other people were talking about usually eat up more system resources.
