I could really use a new Library

I was just wondering, is anyone else in the same boat as myself? The Flash CS3 Library, usually a thin sliver on the side of the screen, mostly contains information that is of no use to me. Out of its five columns- Name, Type, Use Count, Linkage, and Date Modified- I’ve only regularly used a two at a time, maximum, whether I’m animating or programming. I mean honestly, does anybody use Use Count or Type?

It doesn’t help that these columns can’t be swapped around. If I could just push the worthless columns off to the right of the Library, I’d be content. As it currently stands, these worthless columns just clutter the panel and force the important information- like my symbols’ names- to truncate until I can’t tell them apart.

And there’s more! If you double-click the name of a Library asset, it will become selected so you can edit it. And if you double-click the Linkage name of the asset, it… selects the asset’s name so you can edit it. How about the fact that there’s no horizontal scroll bar, but you can still scroll horizontally with your mouse wheel? I accidentally do this all the time, and there’s no obvious way to undo it.

I hope they Adobify it, soon. A better-designed Library would be a welcome change.

EDIT: One other thing: the dates and times in the Date Modified column don’t reduce gracefully, from “Tuesday, August 14, 2007 1:19 PM” to “8/14/07”. Decreasing the column’s width just chops off characters from the end of the String, so you end up with something like “Tuesda…”, which is entirely useless. Come on!
